The Burbs and Calientes
Hey,
The Burbs were really uneventful compared to my other homes.
Background: The Burbs consist of John, Jennifer, and Lucy. Jennifer Burb is Daniel Pleasant’s sister, making Lilith and Angela Pleasant Lucy’s cousins. Their story says that they moved from the big city to a more residential area.
Jennifer Burb, a fortune sim, wanted a job as an EMT, and her husband John got a job matching his Lifetime Want of becoming a cop. So
Jennifer studies all the time and John is constantly jumproping or working out with the TV. At the beginning, both careers required the parents to work at night. John called a nanny to watch little Lucy while they were away, but the only thing she was good for was leaving food in the oven while watching TV. She would sit calmly as the oven went up in flames, a firefighter would run in and extinguish it and let himself out. Lucy was usually safe in her room. She was one of the only really bad nannies I’ve had. She does more-often-than-not cook lobster thermidor though. And with Seasons, I can just stick it in the fridge as leftovers.
Lucy Burb grew up pretty uneventfully. They didn’t know anyone well enough to have a party, so I thought I’d save her the bad party memory.
I find that if left to my own devices, most of my sims would grow up to be Family or Knowledge sims, so now I roll a die. Lucy Burb, to my immediate displeasure, was a Pleasure sim. But now that I’ve lived her for a day, I think it suits her. I forgot to take a picture of her new hair and makeup though.
Pretty much nothing else happened at the Burbs’. I was thinking about having Jennifer and John have another child, but it’d be better if I didn’t quadruple the population, so I’m making sure I restrain myself early.
The next house on rotation was the Caliente sisters.
Background: The Caliente twins are Dina and Nina. They live in a condo near Don Lothario and have a semi-alien heritage. The game hints that they may have had something to do with Bella Goth’s disappearance, as they arrived on its eve. The alien lineage is also a bit suspicious.
Dina is a blonde woman with the fortune aspiration. When the game starts, she is in love with Mortimer Goth, but Bella’s move back into the Goth mansion took care of that. Nina is a redhaired woman with the romance aspiration. Both women are involved with Don Lothario, apparently unaware of one another’s interest in him. Nina’s Lifetime Want is to be a professional party guest, so I threw her into the slacker career right away. Dina stays at home, looking at Don Lothario’s house.
The first thing they do when I enter the home is argue, apparently, about whose fault it is the sun is out. Could they also be part vampire?
Ah, forgot to mention – Dina Caliente was also previously married to Michael Bachelor, who happens to be Bella Goth’s brother. They still keep his urn in the living room, and he occasionally makes his presence known. Mostly by scaring Nina.
I directed Dina to mourn the loss of her late husband, just out of curiosity, and sure enough, Dina doesn’t seem to care at all. Many people have hypothesized that Dina married Michael to get closer to the Goth fortune. I wish the sims could pretend in that way – she wouldn’t marry him if she didn’t love him, and she can’t pretend to love him. Hopefully this is one of the things The Sims 3 will bring us – horrible poeple.
The next day, when Nina was out at work, Dina invited Don Lothario over for a dip in the hot tub on the roof. Don is an intern in the medical career. He began to talk about how he could be a doctor, but Dina seemed to show an intense dislike for that idea.
She interrupted him to ramble about makeup. Maybe how he should be a cosmetologist or something. Perhaps I’ll take her advice and make him a hairdresser.
Dina rolled up the want to have a baby. Done! I waited around a few days to see if maybe the guy I want her to marry, DeBateau (a rich sim from Belladonna Cove) happened to walk by to satisfy her other want of marrying rich sim. When he didn’t show up, I came up with a new storyline. She would have a baby with Don and marry him later.
Romance ensued. I kept worrying that maybe her sister would come home and freak out and make my already dense Megahood one home greater by splitting this one into two.
I thought Don and Dina lookd like a pretty cool couple, but I would rather she marry a rich sim, just because, really. And I couldn’t see Don getting married.
Apparently during this putsing around, the Calientes have been decent hobby builders because the matchmaker came by, and out of her lovely garbage bag, dropped off a magic lamp. Yep, Genie Lamp!
She thinks she’s so sly, sneaking around in midday.
Nina became interested in the lamp before she even came home from work and wanted to make a wish right away. The only appropriate wish here was “Give me Beauty”. Now all the sims that know her think she’s the hottest thing they’ve ever seen and she has to keep going outside in the middle of the night/early morning to tell sims to go away, hah.
For the next several days, both sisters have been building their skills and trying to be promoted in their careers. Bills were piling up, so Dina took a job in the athletic career, her lifetime want. That looks a little silly to me.
It wasn’t long before Don came a’knockin’ again, but this time while Dina wa
sn’t home. Nina was, and I think that’s what he was hoping for, honestly. Nina took the opportunity to fulfill some wants while her sister wasn’t home. For some reason, now that I have these funky clothing from The Sims 2 Store, all the sims that have to generate outerwear are generating either the medeival or rennaissance outerwear. These sims are looking really silly now that winter’s rolling around, especially since several sims will walk by with the same outerwear dress.
I love how quickly the sims move – Dina was showing her pregnancy, but I feel like it flew by
quicker than it usually does. Dina shuffled around the house while Nina jumproped like hell for her next promotion and befriending Mr. Green, I forget his first name, from Belladonna Cove. I’m not sure what my plans for him are, but I don’t think
I want him with Nina, so I had to restrain her a bit. Three sim days later and baby Desirée was welcomed into the Caliente family. I thought the ‘desire’ reference was appropriate, and saw later that that section of the family tree was all D names. Desirée has both parents’ green eyes and her father’s black hair. I hope the genes mix well…
I’m not sure if Nina was jealous, but she may have been. Just a day before the birth of Desirée, guess who else started to show?
